Continuing Legal Education (CLE) for Immigration Attorneys
Lawyers licensed to practice law in New York State are required to take continuing legal education (“CLE”) courses to maintain their license to practice law. Since 2003, I have taught 29 CLE courses relating to immigration law.
Speaking at CLE courses is not just something that I volunteer to do, I am asked to teach these courses because I am perceived to be an expert on the subject matter that I teach. While the majority of the CLE courses that I have taught involve petitions for review, I have taught CLE courses on almost all of the areas of immigration law that I practice. I usually prepare written materials for my CLE courses. I have had my CLE materials published 9 times.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit regularly calls into question the quality of representation provided by immigration lawyers in New York City. As an immigration attorney, it saddens me when this happens. One of the reasons that I have taught so many CLE courses is that I would like to help improve the quality of legal representation that immigrants in New York City receive.
