The Executive Office for Immigration Review (“EOIR”) is the administrative agency that runs the Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals. The EOIR has the power to discipline attorneys. On November 1, 2011, the EOIR announced that it had disciplined three attorneys. It is quite unfortunate, but there are many individuals practicing immigration law that engage in unethical and unprofessional behavior. The EOIR maintains a list of attorneys that it has disciplined. It is very disturbing how long the list is. When you hire an immigration lawyer, you must be very careful that the person you are hiring is someone that will provide you with zealous representation.
